Show Kolb- D 874 A There is a mark on the rocks that you can see from the Denver & Rio Grands Railroad, where the boundary line lies. It is above Westwater canyon, as I understand it. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q The petition states and the defendant's answer admits the Colorado river enters the state of Utah through an open canyon. What canyon is that? A We don't call it a canyon; I didn't know it had any name. There is a sheer wall on the south side of the river, possibly two hundred feet high, I would judge from memory, and on the north side of the river it is no canyon; there is no sheer bluff; the railroad runs past there, and the walls are set back quite a distance from the river. MR. BLACKMAR: That situation is shown on plate 33 of Exhibit 10. MR. FARNSWORTH: That is the boundary, is it? MR. BLACKMAR: Yes MR. FARNSWORTH: Exhibit 10, sheet what? MR. BLACKMAR: 23 THE WITNESS: Could I be excused for a minute? THE SPECIAL MASTER: Yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q On the second trip through rapids do you go and look them over again? 2844 |
