Show Kolb- D 856 Q You never have made that trip? A No sir, I have never made that trip. Q Have you ever been on that section of the Colorado that used to be called the Grand river? A Yes sir, with Mr. Bert Loper, here, I made a trip from Glenwood Springs, or about Glenwood Springs, with a Peterboro freight canoe; we had outrigger for oars; we came down the Grand river, as it was then called, to Gran Junction, continued on down the river through westwater canyon, the only party that has ever run the rapids of westwater canyon, I believe. Q Where is westwater canyon with reference to the Colorado- Utah line? A It is in Utah; the line crosses the river a very short distance above westwater canyon. Q Then did you take your canoe out there? A I had done other work with another party -- MR. FARNSWORTH: At the rapids, you mean? MR. BLACKMAR: At westwater canyon, I meant. MR. FARNSWORTH: He said he went through it in his boat. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I am only letting in this evidence about this Grand river above the locus here under the same conditions that the evidence came in at the Green river. MR. BLACKMAR: Yes sir. 2826 |
