Elsa's mouth dropped. "Now?" She blushed furiously. "I can't get married like this!" Uncle Levi explained about the special blessing in store for Rulon. "You wouldn't want to let him down, would you?" Aunt Elsa put her hands to her head. Her pigtails were hard and knotty. "No. But Daddy..." Just then my father came into the room. "Ready?" he whispered. Uncle Levi nodded. Elsa glanced wildly around. "But what about the others? I thought my sister-wives would be here... And Mother! Daddy, what will Mother say?" Uncle Levi studied the hardwood floor. "We must keep absolute secrecy. Even after the ceremony, you must not tell Mother --or anyone.
