Show -12John BushITa n Diary 1913 July-August J u l y 23 : 1919: Arose early & got ready to start to Arizona. They had dinner wi th Bro. A. loert & he took them in h is auto t o the s·ta.tio n, a lso Janet Smith wh o i s going to her home in Snowflake. They boKrdad the cars at 3 p.m. after a d ieu to Bro. Ma rtin & Albert & grand daughter Florance BushITan. A f ter a pleas9.nt ride they arrived at BarstO'N at 11 :30 on the 24th, being very warm, and start on the Santa Fe' at 3 p.m. Arrive at Needles at 7 p.m. Extremely warm, the air is hot. By 10 p.m. getting cooler. July 25: The country looks green and fine. Arrive at St. Joseph at 8:30 and were met by John L., Alonzo & families. Also J esse's family at the station & taken home in autos where they visited with their children all day. Every thing looks prosnerous here, crops are good. ·Julv 26: They went with their son Alonzo & family to Sn.ovrflake at 1:30 &: stop with .Marion Rogers. 2 p.m. attended conference. Apostle Joseph F. Smith&: Bp. John Wells and 2 ladies from Salt lake are present. Pres. Alof Larson was the first speaker, then Bp. Wells &: J .F.Smith & the sisters. They stay all night with daughter Lois Smith. Met daughter Lillian Palmer & husband & older children. Also Homer & family and Preston & family. Their son Ya:tlghn .;ha_d r his foot :run over with a wagon. 1 a.m. attended the conference. The lady missionaries July 27: Sunday. At s9oke well. The General and local authorities ware sust3.ined. Bp. Walls spoke. 2 p.m. attended meeting and opened by prayer. Apostle Smith spoke 50 minutes on the need of keeping all the COIJ1!!1andments to gain Celestian glory & eternal life. Bp. Wells showed hovr wealth blinds the people so they cannot see the beauties of the Gospel. Th~y met many dear friends & rejoiced. July 28: Came home with Alonzo. They see many improvements. July 29~ Went to Holbrook with Alonzo. This town is growing fast. Visited Bp. J.L.Westover and J .H.Richards. July 30: Helped Jesse in garden and stay with at our old home which looks well cared for. July 31: Went through the fields and crops look well. St3.y all night with son John L. & family of 5 nice girls. All are well. Aug. 1, 1919: Visited with son Alonzo & family & helped him make a garage? Stay here two nights & enjoyed their nice family & new home. Visited IPany old friends. Aug. 3: Sunday. 9 a.m. attended priesthood meeting. 10:30 attended S. School which is well attended. 2 p.m. attended fast meeting and spoke with many others. There is over 25% p~esent. In the evening attended M.I.A. and gave a talk on the life of Pres. Joseph F. Smith |
