Show -3- John Bushman diary 191.9 : February-March Feb. 24: & 25th reading the Fortescue History. Feb. 26: We went through the temple for cousin Fredrick Degen. Feb. 27~Vent throu~~ the tem?le for George L. Burtch and went to the genealogical library. Paid Mr? Allie $10 of her work. Beb. 28: Went through the temple for Fredrick L. 3urtch & came home. Administered to A .J .Evans. March 1, 1919: Received cash from June B. Smith for the Smith family genealogy work $10. March 2: Sunday. Fasted and read the Fortescue history to try to connect U? with an Earl Fortescue we have just got in communication with in England, Earl Fortascua. 2 p.1;1. attended testimony meeting. Many bore good testimonies. After meeting Bro. Eli Kandel & I were asked to administer to Sister E.H.Davis & son Ray, they both being sick. Monday & Tuesday reading the Fortescue History to connect up with Earl Fortascue who has recently wrote to us from England. March 5: This is Old Folks day in Lehi. Just before 12 noon all over 60 years gathered at the assembly rooms where the Old Folks committee had prepared a banquet. There was nearly 300 persons partook of a splendid dinner, afte:rfwhich all repaired to the main rooms where they rendered a splendid program. Pres. Chapman was the first speaker. He was very pleased and comical. After this many want to the Royal Theatre to face entertainment. But at 4:35 we came to Salt lake & stop with Maria. In the evening I told the children our early experience in Arizona. & of exploring the great forest. March 6th: 1919. Went through the temple for 2nd cousin John Weitzel. In the evening went to the genealogical library & got Sister Gertrude Bayard a German genealogist to take what information we have of our Bushman ancesters and connect us up with the Bushmans of Europe. After we came through the veil we had Mr. Christian & Julia Smith sealed, also Fred. F. Foscue & Martha M.B.Sweeney sealed and Mary Jane Foscue uncle Fred Foscues first wife & cousin who did not agree in life sealed to Wm. Smith, also Wife's grand father & g. grand fathers children sealed to the~r parents, also the Rogers. March 7: Went throug~he temple for Thomas Twysden@, after (which) we went to the Relief Society home where there were 40 or 50 men & women met who had been through the temple for Ruth Hatches great grand mother Gross' people. Brother Hatch presided. They sang O My Father and I was asked to offer prayer after which Ruth Hatch explained about the Goss family & read her last note. Many bore good testimonies of the work for the dead and sister Zina Y. Card spoke in ton~~es and prophes~ed much would be done for the dead by those present. We came home in the evening. |
