Show -10Jchn Bushman diary 1914 June June 10: 1914: We have an invitation to the temple to witness the wedding of Alonzo & Edith at 3 :15. They were married by Pres. J .F.Smith. Also we witnessed the marriage of Levi S. Uda 11 to Louisa Lee. There were many families of children sea led to their parents. We esteem this a very great orivilege. After we all ca me out sister Wilcox invited us to her home with the two newly married couples, where a very nice supper awaited us. She has 3 nice daughters and a son at home, all were very nice. A letter written by Rudger Calwsen to Pres. Smith which was very funny (was read). This has been a very interesting affair. E.S'? Wilcox took us to the interurban station in his auto at 5 :30 and we came to Lehi at 7 :30. Found all well and they g:3.ve us a hearty welcome. We stop with Martin. June 11: Aunt Martha took us to Sister Sarah, found her feeling pretty well. We met many old firends. Alonzo came at 9 :30 when Bre>. Martin took him and & Edith and I in his surrey through the fields to Saratoga. and up to the big pumping plant which outs the water 100 feet upon the land west of Utah lake. It is a large canal full. There are a great lot of farming under this canal. Efetwent north to the old ford of Jordan, farms all the way and good crop~ .,!Mildred'? Bushman, Theodores wife. Saw many things to bring pleasant thought. Got back at 4 p.m. when Aunt Martha had a fine dinner. After dinner we went around town & C i . lled on John Jacobs & wife who seemed pleased to see us. He is 79 years old, is real smart & happy. Visited with Bro. Martin & wife until 10 p.m. 0 June 12: After breakfast ea lled on Elmore Rhodes & got his horse & surrey. Aunt Martha came with us. We went down through the best part of the old field, covered with wild roses, like lovers ).ane. Called on Alonzo Rhodes, he was aviay. Hattie was ?leased to see us. Then we called on J. Cox & wife who seemed happy to see us. Called on Joseph Barnes, they were pleased in two ways to know we had come to see us & to know we thought enough of them to come. Had a 3 hour visit here. They are very pleased to see us & showed their pleasure. They are well to do in property. We called on Sarah E. Barnes Shelton, Sister Sarah Rhodes oldest granddaughter. She has ten children the oldest one, Isaac 20 is married ~st April & Sister Sarah P.hodes expects soon to see her 5th generation. Then we came to the cemetery and saw the graves of father & Mother, our sons John A. &: Martin L. This place is well kept. We called on Anna & Andrew Christofferson. They always seem so pleased to see us. They treated us on strawberries & cream & showed us through theirr berry orchard whfoh is heavily loaded, a splendid place. We called on H. Wilcox and wife & mother Barbara Rhodes who is 89 years old 3.nd re9.l well and happy. We called on Amanda Sabey., they have a large family of large children. They have a son 15 years old 6.3 in. tall, weighs 130. Yle had su~per with them. Called on Elmore Rhodes and slept at Brother Martins. |
