A, Srr,ith who spoke on the proptiecies 0:-1 wa r & Its fulfilLr:ient, no telling when it would end. Also Pras. Penrose spoke on the fu lfillment of prophecy. Oct. 6: Attended conference. Bro. Whitney & B.H• Roberts spoke splendid. 7 :30 attended priesthood meeting.' ?res. Pen rose said the t iorr.wn soldier boys would be justified in leaving off their garments i f it was not convenient to wear them. Also said the boys should not use tob9.cco as that would i mpair their efficiency as soldiers to run & not faint & walk and r.ot be weary & have wisdom &c. At 9 o.m. Bro. Israel Call took ms with him to Bountiful to stop all night. Had a good supper & bed. They have a nice summer? hone and well furnished. P..ave a widowed daughter living with them. Enjoyed a good visit with them. Oct. 7: 1917: Sunday. Came to conference. At 10 a.m. Apostle Ivins spoke on the theory of evolution. Ee showed that the Ancients were as intelligent as the people in this day, that Abraham knew more of astronomy than the present day astronomers. J.F.Smith Jr. spoke on same subject. Bp. Nibley advised the 41.tter-day Saints to not iet the agents get their money. Better get Liberty Bonds. Also to save enough bread stuff for their own use. Came home afternoon Archie Anderson & wife came & had dinner with us. Oct. 8: Worked for Elmore Rhodes½ day haulir:g oats. Took sisters Cordelia &Rebecca & wife around tmvn to see old friends and the public buildings, had ice cream in the evening. Oct. 9: Digging ~>0tatoes for 3ro. Eartin & visiting our sisters. Oct. 10: Digging potatoes. James A. Bushman was brought home from the hospital very feeble. He had an operation & found he had cancer of the stomach. Oct. 11: Took the sister out riding again & had a nice visit with them. Oct. 12: At 11 a.m. I witnessed James A. Bushman sign his last will. Ha is growing worse. At 2 p.m. he breathed his last in the presence of his pf his 04rents & sister Flora & John Bushman & Marie Worlton .. At 12 :25 p.m. sisters Cordelia 11orehead & Rebecca Ewing boarded the cars for Cache' Valley, their homes. I sent a telegram to Annie Miller in Canada of the death of her brother. Oct. 13: Finished di gging potatoes. Got 9 bushels which is enough to keep us a 11 winter. Oct. 14: Sunday. 9 a.m. attended prayer circle and sealed the annointing on patriarch J a ~es Kirkham. 2:30 p.m. went to Union meeting at American Fork. We t,. re urged to buy Libert y Bonds. And look after the ~roung at nights. 7:30 heard a lecture on Red Cross work by sister. Oct. 15: Wrote letters, worked a round home. I . |
