Headows where they treated us ~very nice. On the way Don Vaughn had 2 lig;ht spells. Dar Meadows has 700 acres of land here, over 80 in cultivation, the balance pasture well stocked with cattle. His brother Isom has 1,000 acres stocked with ea tt le. We looked around on his phce. I g ot some m.ilo maze. seed. !low, 22:We ea.me toY.finters, 10 miles and stayed with Hattie Eoff? & his James. They seemed real ?leased to see us. We went ar ound his 160 acre f~rm mostly in _ _ _ • The land is ;_,; ood but a little too dry. '.ov, 23: We came back to Wm. Meadows for dinner and hack to Joseph James 1 for night. D. Vaughn had three spells today. Cousin Dave asked me to pray in eveni!lg. Xov, 24: After breakfast and biding our friends adieu we came ta Wm. James at Coleim.n. :ov, 25: We visited with Florence J 3.mes and her husband Shelley Bird and. %11 James family until evening when we came to Coleman a..1'1d took train for Temple 180 miles • 1 .!ov. 26: Arrived at 1:30 a.m., we got a room for 50ft. A.t 9 a.m. we got breakfast and went up to-Nn. Came to the K;D. R.R. station and waited until 3p.m. then came to Georgtown?? where we met cousin J.W.Smiths wife and 2 daughters Nina &: Minnie Smith. Millie is marri e d to Chester D. De Bardelmen. We were very cordially (received) and we had a very sociable evening, in tal!Ung over the Smith g;enea. logy. ov, 2:1: I attended Presbyterian S. School, subject temperance. At 11 we attended church, the preacher spoke unon the importance of training the youth as that was our future strength and graa tness. ,1 J. Mitchell Smith came from his farm and we had a very nice visit all evening. Told us all a ::out his fathers family and ws.nted what we had about the family in our reo ord. '.ov, 28: We enjoyed social talk until 12 noon when they took 2 snap shots at us all with the family. We b id affectionate fare well and nina took us to the station and we came to Temple where we met Cousin A.B.Headows, son 1nd Earl Vaur,hn on their return from the fair at St. Louis. Also Wm. Faughn who took us all to his pb.ce where we a tayed al l night &. A.B. hleado-Ns told the company about the fair • .rov. 29: Raining some. We went with Asa to his home and had several long t-i.lks on l" ormonism and es?eoially polygamy. Lois joined me to prove it was Possi'lle for more than one woman to live ,vith a man in oeace and ha?piness. Dec. 1:: Tn morning Dr. Foscue went to his ranch and his wife took us armmd tO'Nl1, said to he 30.,000 people livin g here. It is situated on the .9razas River which rises over 35 feet sometimes• There are many fine schools b uildings me churches. In the evening Garland Jr. took us a round north part of town and shCJ?l'ed us the most noted buildings and took us to the minstrel show in the evdning. |
