Show -14John Bushman diary 1914 July July 3, 1914: Went through the tem9le for Guy Annabel D9.lton. After bidding the workers A;ood bye we boarded the train at 2 p.m. start to Lehi. Vle have enjoyed our work 3 weeks very good and Aunt Eliza has been su?remely happy. We got to Lehi at 6:30, found all well. Bro. Aloert met us at the st!l.tion & we stop with them. Lois and (I) went over to the dance to look on for a while, it is fine. July 4, 1914: Cloudy and rained a little all day. All the old Bushmans gathered at .Martins and we had a very pleasant time and all had supper th..,re. The very best of feeling were present. Visited the park and met many old friends and had many reminisoenees and had a general good time. July 5: Sunday. Fast day, went to priesthood meeting. Discussed the similarity of Missouri persecution to Adam & Eve fa 11. Attended S. School, real good, then took dinner with Mrs. Winn. Visited our old home, met Wary Ann Davis, then went to the old meeting house, first ward and spoke on our country & how we got a long, how we had been blessed. Rebecca Evans bore a good testimony. A young man spoke and said just one month ago he gave his testimony & when he went out of the house he s9.id he would not bear testimoney again and after he got home he felt miserable because he had said that, and he felt worse and worse until he thought ha could not endure it, until he prayed for relief. And the Lord showed hL~ he had cheated and took advantage of his brethren & worst of a 11 he had ?rayed the Lord if he would prosper him to build him a home he would oay his tithing ever afte!". And he was blessed to build a good home but fs.iled to pay any tithing & now he had come to confess his sins, and bore a good testimony to the Gospel. Also Newell Browns wife told of her conversion. After meeting we visited Joseph Petersons mother, Mat Peterson & Sister James &: came back to Bro. Alberts where a 11 my Bres .. d: Sister were &: we had a fine supper , all feeling splendid. Elder Leonard tiague of Pleasant Grove wished to be remembered to Elder T,H .Shelley. July 6: Bro. Jacob bade us all adieu & start for home. We visited James & Chris Peter. They showed us their farms. We had dinner with Sister Sarah. Silas and Maria are with us. Afternoon we went around town & down through the fields to Alonzo Rhodes & had a splendid time. Stayed with Bro. Albert. July 7: Bro. Albert and wife took us to Pleasant Grove. We ea lled on J. Foutz, Margaret Brown & sister F. Thorn &: had dinner with her. Visited George Thorn 74 years old, his wife is dead and he is looking for another wife. He seems a little luny. We came to Provo at 7 p.m. found Maria & family are a 11 well. In the evening 2 professors of language, J .G, Barker & J .Vf. Vihittaker came & read French in our genealogy and then said it was a grand book. They can read the French and La.tin. 1,·d |
