Show -3- John 3ushman diary 1916 February- March-Ap ril-May Feb. 20: 1916: Sunday. Attended priesthoo d meeting, S. Schoal & meeting. This week I went to Dry lake and took my team to hel.;, ?reston to make a dam that had been broke by the late floods. Feb. 27: Attended to my regular duties, and worked a.round the farm all week 1 sowed 22 acres of wheat. March 5, 1916: Attended to my religious duties and worked on the farm all week. Sowed 22 acres oats. March 12: Attended to the meetings and worked on the farm a 11 week. I.larch 19: Attended to the meetings and worked on farm. !larch 26: Attended to duties. Aoril 3: 1916: Sunday. Fast day, attended priesthoo d meeting & s. School .~t fast meeting A .E. Bushman & wife had their <laugh.tar Lenore blessed by J. W.Smith and Adele B. Westover had her son Martin Russel (blessed) by J. L. Westover. Not much done during this week. ~oril 9: Sunday. Held Bp. council meeting and other duties all the week. A.pril 30: 1916: Sunday. The Stake Presidenc y ea.me here and released me a.s the Bp. of the S~. Joseph 'lfard and elected John L. Westover Bishop. J.E.Richa rds & others had predicted that there would be much oppa.sition. But when the opposing vote was called, there was not a single vote showed up. Howard L. Randall & Ben R. Hunt were elected counselo rs. All went off nicely. The Stake President commended me highly for the good record we had ma.de in 28 years of presiding in St. Joseph. M9.y 7: J .L.Westov er took charge and got along nicely. I attended all the meetings. Plowed 3 days for J .v .Bushman. 1916: Son Virgil took his mother & I to Snowflake and returned on 14th, 1916, for .,$8.00 had a good conferenc e. Apostle George F. Richards & Wm. Morton & Sister Janet Hyde from Utah was with us and gave splendid talks. May 12: May 14: Stake conferenc e was concluded at Holbrook & afternoon the new church was dedicated by Apostle Richards. A.nd there was a very large congregation present & a good spirit. We had dinner with sister ~ry Richards Vie came home in the evening. 1fay 29: Wife & I start for Provo at 6:30 a.m. Preston & Virgil came to the R.R.Statio n with us. We had a pleasant ride to Barstow - at 12 :30. May 30: VTe got on No. 2 for Provo. Today we got in conversat ion with a couple from Australia who are tr<i.veling with a vaudevill e show. They are very sociable. |
