Show 511 -17- John Bushman diary 1916 September Sept. 19: - Went to the Historian 's Office, looked ove:- the records. read the crucifixi on of Jesus in Jesus the Christ. We Sept. 20: We went through the temp le for Henry Jacob Riley & was a -.Jroxy for several sealings. ,Tosie Evers & daughters came to see us. They were pleased and we also etjoyed their visit & invite us to dine with them. Sept. 21: We went through the temple for Geor-ge W. Riley after which we went to Josie Evers for dinner, No. 660 Wilson Ave. We had a splendid dinner and good visit. She wants to do some temple work & has never had her endowmen ts. I told her I would help to get her brothers to :make a family associati on to do temple work. Seot. 22: Went through the temple for Harvey T. Riley. Wrote several letters and came to Provo. It was raining, found all well & glad to see us. Sept. 23: Wrote names to suggest names for officers of Bushman genealogi cal society, and visited with Maria & family. Sept. 24: Came to Lehi and visited with Brother Albert & sister Sarah. Talked of organizin g a Bushman genealogi cal society. They are all willing. 2 p.m. attended meeting and was asked to offe-r the opening prayer. Patriarch Warren Smith spoke on temple work, real good. I visited niece Amanda Saby & in the evening visited Brother =artin & family on the temple work. Sept.25: Visited the canning factory. They employ about 50 hands ,mostly girls. They have beautiful tomatoes and all is done very nicely. Afternoon I visited Chris & James Peterson & talked about family genea.log)ic a.l societies , and was informed they had organized one, but did not do much. At 4 p.m. Brother Martin & wife Martha and. Brother E.A. .Bushman and I all met at Sister Sarah A. Rhodes to talk of ~rganizin g a Bushman Genea.1ogical a.ssociati on. M.B.Bushm a.n acted as chairn.an anc: we a 11 agreed on the following officers: Jacob Bushman, Pres., Sarah A. Rhodes, 1st Vice; John Bushman 2nd Vice; Treasurer John M. Bushman? Sylvia ,_Bushman, Sec.; Sarah E. Fowles correspond ing sac. Temple Conunittee : Martin B. Bushman, W.F. Butt and Martha S. Bushman. Social Committee : E.A. uushma.n, M. Elmore Rhodes, Flora B. The annual meetings are to be immediate ly after the October Conferenc es to elect officers and attend to all business necessary .
