Said the Spirit of the Lord v;as with us. Ate dir.ner with a Bro • • His wife is Frank Campbells sister. ----- 2 p.m. several of the Ward Teachers of the sta ke ,irere asked to report their work which they did, af'ter which Brother i,fc Kay spoke on teaching & how it should be done & gave many examoles of how to tea.eh. Came home with Brother Albert. Bought aoples one dollar. Oct. 28: 1917: Sunday. Snowing hard, came to American Fork with Bro. Albert at 10 a.m. ?res. 1v::errill of 3 .Y.U. first speaker, encouraged education. Pres. A..J .Evans spoke on War. R.S.Vlells spoke on chastity & soldier boys. Aoostle McKay spoke to the children & told the story of the blind mute girl & how we should appreciate the blessings we enjoy. Had dinner with B r o • - - - - - - - • Authorities were sustained. 2 p.m. severa l teachers were asked to speak on ward teaching. Apostle McKay gave a splendid sermon on the duties of our boys in training camps, that we should suooort them with our prayers. Pres. R.S.Wells sooke on the need o f attending sacrament meetings & renewing our covenants. Came home at 5 p.m. Oct. 29: Wrote some letters and helped Bro. L1artin husk some corn af'terday. r.oon Oct. 30: Bought 1,000 # coal & wrote some let ters. In the evening went teaching to 4 families. All ~eel well, especially Hyrum Kirkham. Oct. 31: Came to the temple & went through for Wm. Richard Hopkins Northey. We stop at the Relief Society Home. Nov. 1, 1917: Went through the temple for Richard Northey. In the evening we visited Ruth Hatch, had a good talk on the genealogical research. Nov. 2: Went through the temple for William Faithful Fortescue. I was a witness for the sea ling & adoptions. We came home at 4 :20. nov. 3: Received a check from Lohn Nelson, 2nd oayment on our sheep, $2,125.20. We ?a.id sev er3. l debts, & 330 tith i ng. The i mprovements on this house has cost us $380 beside the work I done. Plumbing $ 183, for lumber $133, and carpenter work $44, plasterin g $ 20. Pa id Alonzo D. R~odes $780 f or his mothers house & lot, cook stove, bedst ead, cot, cupboard & t a ble. Total cost $78O.OO. |
