Show I -1John Bushman diary 1899 January Jan , 1, 1899: Sunday . 10 a.m. attended s. School, fasted a.nd 2 p.m. attended meeting. Several h ore testimony . In the evening the threshers came. Jan , 2: Start to thresh, froke a shaft, repaired it and threshed afternoon . Jan , 3: Finished threshing my grain . We had 165 bu wheat 75 bu oats, 5 bu lucern seed, 6 bu cane seed, Some warmer. : ~'' .. -l I I I J9.n , 4: Straighten ing up sta cks &,-c . J,.n, 5: Took a load of hay to Mr. Rope. Jan, 6: Took hay to Mr . Rope, he paid me $20.00 2 more due. Jan , 7: All the married people gathered at Bro . Hansens under the auspices of the Old Folks com.T:J.ittee. We had an excellent dinner and afternoon a good program was rendered and as I was the oldest one ?resent the committee gave me a. nice silk handkerch ief and Sister Busruran a nice autograph album for second oldest person. ~. At 7 p.m. the committee gave an entertainm ent for the missionar ies W. Richards and Preston. They raised about $ 10, had an enjoyable time, the missionarie s seem to feel very well. In the evening Silas and Walter Smith, alsoVl, Palmer and our three daughters came to see Preston off. Jrn, 8: Sunday. 10 a.m. attended s. School. 2 p.m. attended meeting. Silas, Y/4lter, Willie and Preston a ll spoke. Preston was ordained an Elder by John Bushrnn; Hyrum rt.ichards a teacher by J.C.Hanse n; Alonzo Bushman a deacon by HJ! ,Tanner, Jan 9: Vfesley Palmer took Preston to Holbrook to go to Utah. He felt very humble and plead me to pray for him. I am settling tithing. Ja.n, 10: Several of the grandchil dren are sick, also Sister Bushman and some of our children have something like Iagrippe. Ja.n , 11: Settling tithing. w. & Lily Palmer went home. Jan, 12: Several of our family are pretty sick, Walter went home. Jan, 13: Silas went home, Lois & lla.ria stay with their children. Ja.n, 14: Settling tithing, finished. Jan, 15: Several of the children are sick. 2 p.m. went to meeting. Bros. Despain & J ,C , Hansen spoke. Jan, 16: Some warmer .
