The display in the night of electric li ght and fire works is very fine. Oct. 26: Wife is not feeling very well and I went to the fair alone. I visited buildings of different countries showing their styles of architecture and leading products &c. which is very entertainir2g. I visited the forestry an d fish and game showing the different kinds of timbers in eac.h country also all their different kinds, of animals. fowls & fish. Manila or the Phillipines seemed to lead in all kinds of fine woods hemp &o • I visited the Indian industrial school where they are working at all kinds of trades. The g overnmental buildings show the halls of the different nations. The Philippines have a larger display than any nation in the variety industries and cover more ground in the fair. There 9.r9 some of the different tribes there living in their native way. I witnessed a very fine parade of their soldiers and t oak a trip to their ins ls.nds with views. Bought a fine table spread for $2.OO. Oct. 27: After breakfast we ea.me to the fair grounds & came to the fine arts building where sculpture and fine paintings of a 11 countries present their work, in sepa.ra. ta rooms. Some countries are more fo~sculpture and some for fine pa.inting, I visited the electricity showing the mny uses g_nd appliances used. Saw the wireless tele graphy ussd. Visit to the h uildings o f minerals where all the states, territories and countries have their minerals on exhi'::Ji tion in the nost imerersting mnner showing how they are mined and worked. Visit to the halls of education where all as above present their systems and appliances for students. All the branches of scientific research, all is very instructive as well as entertaining. I visited the varied industries juilding where many industries are exhibited that are not shown in any other building, large and small and their manufactured articles are for sale. In the evening I could not find wife and she came to our lodging alone. Iwa.ited long at the exit. I got home at 10 p.m. Oct. 28: 1iYe came to the f..,_ir and visited the forestry, fish and game. Went up on the Ferris Wheel a.nd visited Hungary, Ceylon, Austria, Holland, Sweeden, Jerusalem and some other countries, o uildin r;s. In the evening I visited cousi..".ls Harry & Perry Leftwick. ~t. 29: Paid $17.00 for our weeks lodgings and came to Indianapolis, on the Wab!.'sh R.R. and stop with cousin Addison Leftwiok who was pleased to see us. Oct. 30: Forenoon cousin Addison t :;dk; me all around t own and -t.. o see cousin Galvin & dau~hter, who were ple11.sed t o see me. In the evening we went to ~onl';rep;a tional Church and heared a Reverend talk upon Peter and Andrew fir.ding the Christ. Said we should forsake s.11 our former ways when we found Christ. |
