Show -3- John Bushman diary 1909 August Aug. 20: 1909: (Continued) We consoled Rebecca that the girl may have gone with her mother. We went home & waited for the mother, but she did not have her. She was fr9.r1tic. Lois phoned to police headquarters and found she was there. The mother and Jara ld went after her, founc. her a 11 right. Bessie ?erry came. Lois Kerr & her sang beautiful some songs and we had some social t9_lk. Aug. 21: We arose early and bade affectionate farewell. We boarded the train at 8 a.m. At Tacoma we met Jesse, he seemed to enjoy our visit. Came tc, Portland at 5 p.m. stop one hour and came on up the great Columbia River, the scenery is beautiful. Aug. 22: Vie arrived at Boise at 4 :30 p.m. where Rebecca &: her daughter Florence Lewis stop and we came on. We took a sleeper for $2.50. ~ug. 23: We arrive at Ogden at 7:30 and Salt Lake at 10 a.m. Got breakfast, went to the Historians Office &: got some circulars on genealogy work, went to the Utah Mexican Rubber Co. Office where they reoort the company in good condition. We visited Jos. West, the Temple Grounds where we heard discussions on ~formonism. Our luggage has not come .Wife went to Lehi and I went to Grace Lundquist and stop all night. Lundquist asked IJ1any questions on the Gospel and the duties, on members large families &:c. Aug. 24: Got our luggage and came to Lehi. Visited Bros. Martin & Albert. At 2 p.m. attended the funeral of Maria Karren. J. Goates, A.J.Evans, & A.R.Ander- . son 1rere the speakers. All spoke fine. Saw many of our old friends. Visited D. Losee?, i'T. Clark, had supper with Sister Sarah. She is not well. Stop a.11 night with Bro. Albert. Bro. Albert & I went to Bp. Stokers and looked over ths Ward & Ti thing records. Found n one farther back than 1872 • .\.ug. 25: Wife and I visited ELmora Rhodes ,--ife and A.ndrevr Anderson who is very feeble. Afternoon Bro. Martin took :Martha & us over Jordan to the cold springand to the Saratoga plea.sure resort, which is fine. Came to Neph8'N' Elnora Rhodes for supper. They are well housed and feel well in the gospel. Stop all night with Bro. !,lartin. ~ug. 26: We went with nephein A.D.Rhodes home. He took me through the fields 9.nd had dinner with them, visited B. Lott at 3 p.m. We all went to the city p,i.rk and witnessed the races, games and base ball game of the Alpine Stake. Many from other ,vards are here. We visited several old friends and stop 9.11 night with BP-o. Albert. \ug. 27: VTent to W. Brown? and he encoura ged me to get out papers to get a ~ension f or ser,ices in the 3 hck He.wk war and he and B.W.3r own went with me to S':llt Lake, I paid their fare. Met M.L. Pratt and Westwood, the commission to take affidavits. We got ours through at 4 p .m. and returned home and stayed with John Jacobs all night. \ug. 28: After calling on Sister Jarah and daughter Lois, Bros. 1iartin &: Albert, Elmore & Barnes & son Jo came with us to the station to see us off. We start at 9 a.m. and arrive at Provo 9 :30 a.nd stop all day with daughter J9.ria & S.D.Smith. Dr. J.H.Frisby $ 57.20.
