Show Organizations of Interest to Women 287 Labor Organizations The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor, in its "Directory of National and International Labor Unions in the United States, 1965," includes a table listing of the unions that report 'table 39, page 82 of this handbook, for membership by sex. (See list of unions reporting 25,000 or more women members.) Ameriean Federation of Labor=-Oonorees of Industrial OrgO/YlJiZations (AFL010) Auxiliaries, 815 16th Street NW., Washington, D.C., 20006. Established December 1957 by merger of the former American Federation of Women's A.uxiliaries of Laoor and National C.1.0. Auxiliaries. Composed of women fram families of men in a trade union affiliated with the AFL-OIO. Its pur pose is to farther the program of the AFL-CIO; to foster organizing of the un organized members of union families and to educate them in the benefits of trade unionism; to aid in securing better schools 'and instructors; to abolish child labor; to promote legislation which benefits workers and their families; and to promote social and cultural activities. 779-5550--66--20 Membership: 50,000. |
