Show The original loading doors at the rear of the theatre were removed and new ones hung. A drainage problem made this necessary. During heavy rain storms water accumulated in the alley and much of it ran under the doors and into the theatre, USU constructed a low cement wall to kepp water out. The new loading doors extend from this wall to the height of the old doors* Interior Lobby-Original The original lobby was about half the size of the present one 0 There was no stairway from the lobby to the balcony, no public rest rooms and there were three entrances into the auditorium, center,, right and left. The decor was similar to that of the auditorium* Lobby-Pre s ent. Alterations of the lobby include enlargement of the area, addition of stairway to balcony, public rest rooms, new lighting fixtures in Victorian- style, flocked wall paper, walnut paneling, new draperies across aisle entrances, new carpet, drinking foun tain, Victorian settee, tables and lamp, and emergency light* All alterations except the addition of stairway were made by USU. in 1960~6l 0 The make-shift public rest rooms added before I960 were torn out and more modern ones added. Auditorium-Original Originally the seating capacity of the Lyric was approximately 450o The wails were papered and plastered. Trims and embellish ments consisted of gold co .ored plaster shields, coates of arms, borders, moulding, bands, 'estoons, foliage, cherubs, symbols, etc* There were three aisles in the lower floor and two in the balcony,, At the lower level of the )alcony were two boxes and at the right and left of the stage were loges. The seats in these were movable wicker chairs rather than heatre seats. The theatre had a sma .1 orchestra pit which was not as deep as pit usually are. There was a small projection room at the back of the balcony.
