Probably the first was the Logan Knitting Works. This industry was a by-product of the agri-cultural environment of the valley. As early as 1891, the knitting industry was started in Logan and it has been a significant industry to the present. The success of the early Cache Knitting Works spawned several others. Logan Knitting began in 1904 and lasted until the Great Depression. The significance of the knitting business is that it represents the growth of Cache Valley and its transition of industries from the village level to the regional and national level, where local manufactured goods now went beyond the community market. This transition period has been called Cache Valley's Golden Age. |
