Eight steps lead up to the portico with four very large unfluted columns with ionic capitals. Crowning the roof over the portico os the typical Greek temple gable with Federal-Greek revival entablature. The windows are classic in style as are the doors. The building is constructed of dark red brick with white trim windows and entablatures. The structure is a thorough Neo-classic Revival. A large, though sympathetic addition has been made to the building since its original constriction. Statement of Historical Significance: --. .Aboriginal Americans -- Agriculture -^. The Mormon wards created on geographical lines were the most significant organizational force in the growth of this community. Under the direction of the ward bishops, the members constructed all the necessary daily affairs from canal digging to farming. Without the efficient chain of command and division of labor, the success of the Mormon settlements would have been significantly diminished. |
