The building is still in good condition except the upper two floors of the front facade have been completely covered with aluminum. Underneath the siding is a handsome facade with a set of three two-over-two windows on both the second and third floors all of which are crowned with Roman arches and capstones. Seligion --.Science ---Socio-Hunanitarian --.Transportation This building was built in 1881-82 by T. B. Cardon, one of the most prominent businessmen in early Logan. Cardon emigrated from Italy in 1854 and six years later joined the union Army and fought in the Civil War. The three-story brick and stone structure was, "the first business house of that size in the city," wrote the local paper in December 1892. The building was leased to various firms over the years. W. T. Shearman's general merchandise store was probably the first, followed by Robinson Brother's Clothing Store in 1904. Another firm that may have leased the building in 1904 was Brock & Wood Temperance Pool Hall on the upper floor. |
