Show 176 THEOLoclco-POLITiCICap.XVI. TRACTATUS quaeque res ex legibus fua: naturæ agit , id funimojure agit, nimi. rum quia agit , prout ex natura determinata eft , nec aliud poteft. Quare inter homines, quamdiu fub imperio folius naturæ vivere confiderantur, tam ille qui rationem nondum novit, vel quivittutis habitum nondum habet, ex folislegibus appetitus fummoiure vrvit , quam ille qui ex legibus rationis vitam fuam dirigit. HJC efi ficutl fapiensjus luminum habet ad omnia , quæ ratio dictat, iive ex legibus rationis vivendi; (re etiam ignarus, & animi impotens fummumjus habet ad omnia, qua: appetitusfuadet, five ex legibus appetitus vivendi. Atque hoc idem eft , quod Paulus docet, qui ante legem , hoc e[t , quamdiu homines ex natura: imperio vi- vere confiderantur , nullum peccatum agnofcit. ]us itaque naturale uniuieujufque hominis non fana-ratione , fed cupiditate & potentia determinatur. Non enim omnes naturaliter determinati funt ad operandum fecundum regulas & leges rationis; fed contra, omnes ignari omnium rerumnaicuntur, & antequam veram vivendi rationem nofcere poffunt & virtutis habitum acquirere, magna ætatis pars, ctii bene educatifuerint, tranfit, &ni- hilominus interim vivere tenentur, feque , quantum in fe eli , con- fervare, nempe ex folo appetitus inpuliu : quandoquidem natura iis nihil aliud dedit & actualem potentiam ex (ana ratione vivendi denegavit, & propterea non magis ex legibus fanæmentis vivere tenentur , quam felis ex legibus naturæleoninæ.
