Noverre suggested changes in stage costume, emphasized the value of good music, insisted that ballets be designed to express a specific theme and proposed the restoration and development of the art of mime. Noverre produced ballets not only in Paris (where his most illustrious pupil was Marie Antoinette), but also in Potsdam, London, Stuttgart, Lyons, Vienna, and Milan.
