Show __y__ fornia Development Company the one hundred thousand (100,000) acres of land adjoining the above tract on the South for the sum of Sixty-thousand ($60,000) Dollars, gold coin of the United States, provided such payment is made on or before the 15th day of May, 1898, forty thousand ($40,000) Dollars of said payment to be made in first mortgage six per cent bonds of said Company, secured by a mortgage upon the lands of said Company, provided, however, that the said Andrade may refuse said bonds and exact cash in lieu thereof, unless at the time they are offered satisfactory evidence is given to said Andrade of the Company's ability to construct the proposed canal within the time hereinbefore mentioned, the Company however, having the right to pay all cash in lieu of part bonds as aforesaid, if it so desires.
