JOHN TANNER, ELDER Tanner, and son of Joshua and Thankful F. M. Lyman, was grandfather of Apostle At born August 15th, 1778, in the state of Rhode Island. the age of thirteen years his parents moved to Greenwich, Washington county, New York, where, at the death of his father, who was a farmer, he took charge of the business and settled his father's estate.
