In 1942 His ten family of ninteen .children his descendants numbered 800 at present. 210, and are estimated to be about John Tanner + David Dan Tanner t John Tanner Myron t VASCO MYRON TANNER Dr. Vasco Stevens Tanner, Myron Tanner, was Myron and 29, 1892, at Payson, son born October of John Lois Ann Utah. He has the distinction of being the oldest child of his parents and the oldest grandchild of his grandparents. His boyhood was spent in Indianola and Fairview. He graduated from the eighth grade in Fair view in 1909. He attended Brigham Young High School briefly and then finished his high school work at Mt. Pleasant in 1912. His A.B. degree was obtained from Brigham Young University in 1915, his M.A. from the University of Utah in 1920, and his Ph.D degree for Stanford University in 1925. During this busy period of gaining an education, he courted a George school girl, Annie Atkin. They were married in the St. George Temple, June 5, 1917. Their family consists of four girls and one boy; Carol, Gloria, Marilyn, Carmela, and Vasco Jordan. V asco Tanner taught a number of years at Dixie College in St. George (1916-23), and was appointed chairman of the Department of Zoology and Entomology at Brigham Young University in 1925. He has taught at Brigham Young University since almost a half century of service to that institution. Students trained by Dr. Vasco M. Tanner are to be found in most of the fifty states and in a number of foreign countries, and the department he built up at 'Brigham Young University is favorably known everywhere. St. - |
