After serving in the government for sixteen years, he resigned the accept position of president of the newly organized Merrill Petroleums of Canada. In this position he began to achieve busi to ness success and took his initial rewards which were Two years steps toward the larger financial ahead. later, in 1954, he was asked to head the Trans-Canada Pipelines Ltd., project which was being formed and which required rare judgement coupled with the ability to manage many people with widely divergent points-of-view.
