In preparing that evening to leave camp, by mistake we left one can, after we arrived at Kingston Springs, a distance of 12 miles, we camped for the night. On the morning of the 11 th found us with only one can of water for men for our cooking & use as Col. Kane had one can for his special use. We began our journey, traveled about 15 miles. The Col. thought for a change he would like to ride a horse-back.
