Women were not the only ones who loved and admired this wholesome and friendly neighbor, he was universally loved by all who knew him. He seems to have remained on the Cottonwood farm and most of his younger children were born there. He had a total of 18 chil dren, 110 grandchildren, and in 1942 when the John Tanner Family was published, his total descendants numbered 1,044. The Nathan Tanner family published ing his descendants John Joshua. His their now book in 1969 show in number only to second 3,975 updated genealogy number obituary in the Deseret News gave the following information: 14 Senior, 95 years old, only surviving member of Zion's and Camp perhaps the oldest living member of the church, died at the residence of his son Stewart Tanner in Granger, Salt Lake County Saturday night of paralysis and general debility. About three months ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, which at his advanced age told upon him and while he was helpless bodily, his mind remained clear Nathan Tanner up to the end.
