Show Dedication To Elizabeth Beswick, wife of John Tanner who followed him into the Mormon church in 1832 and supported him in the days of his adversity, and reared his orphaned children after his death. To Louisa Conlee, wife of who went with him buried on the banks of the Missouri River. And to Julia Ann Shepherd, girl bride of Sidney Tanner who married Sidney at Winter Quarters and looked after his orphaned children. into the wilderness in Sidney Tanner, 1846, died, and was To Louisa Maria, daughter of John Tanner who married Amasa Lyman and knew all the heartaches and privations of early pioneering but never faltered in her loyalty to her husband and her M. family. To Rebecca Smith, wife of John Joshua Tanner, who spent six years with her husband traveling from Nauvoo to Salt Lake and lived but three years in the promised land. To Rachel Smith, wife of Nathan Tanner, who crossed the plains in 1848 and lived sixty-five years with her husband and saw her descendants become a multitude. To these and to all other women who patiently and loyally bore the burdens of the western migration and reared their children in the finest traditions of a Christian democracy.
