Lyman who was with Brigham Young and the original pioneers en route to Utah in 1847. * * * * Winterquarters, Respected Companion. I take the liberty of wrighting to yon although June the 6, 1847. not requested to let you know of the health of your family, for I do not feel as though I could let this opportunity pass without improving it. Your Ladys are in good health all able to be out to meeting and other places today. I am alone with the children, they are all busy. Matilda is taking care of little Amasa, Marion is studying his book. Little Adelia says tell Pa I have learnt my Letters & can spell some. We have all enjoyed pretty good health since you left & hope these lines will find you in good health & spirits. I pray my heavenly Father to keep you from all harm & danger & give you health and strength to perform the journey & every duty that is enjoined upon you & preserve us all that we may meet again & enjoy each others society in peace & . see many good days. I am very anxious to see you but your mission must be completed first. I have first rate company, those that are willing to do all for me that I could ask or wish. I enjoy myself very well, much better than I expected. I would feel much better about you if you had a good Woman with you that was interrested to take care of your things & do your work if L M L was with you it would please me much, but the Lord's will be done not mine. June the 9th. AU well, I went to see Sister Eldrdge today. She has a pair of twins, Hannah Grover a Daughter, all these great Sister son & Daughter. this letter. Deaths: Sarah Clift & babe, I commenced sinse thing hapend Sister Spicer died at Br. Corkings, Married: Walter Gardner to a Miss Tuttle, Lorenzo Roundy to Miss Wallice, A Mr. Allen to Eliza Berry. Oliver Miers to Mrs. Hules, Father Sprague to Mother Newton, Br. Tinney a lives near Fathers. are making cheese, gardening, Daniel and Sidney work there the carding & spinning, house work, sewing, kniting, Washing, Soap making & in fact anything that comes at hand. I work at my trade, that is taking care of children & have help about that. I feel truly thankful for the privilege of wrighting to you although I make bungling work of it. I must soon close for the evening, my light is most out & little Amasa will soon wake. Please receive my Prayer & . best wishes for you & yours good night. |
