Show 4525 Barnes- C 2545 CROSS EXAMINATION BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q In speaking of the San Juan, Mr. Barnes, you mentioned having seen two boats go down the stream. Where and when did you see the first of these two boats that you mentioned? A One of them was a boat I used myself, and the other one was about a week before, that I saw a boat go down with two men in it. Q Miners? A I expect perhaps they was, from the outfit they had in their boat; they was in midstream, I didn't know who they was. Q Headed down at what point? A At a point about four miles up the river from Bluff City. Q And did you later come down to Bluff? A Well, later I and another fellow took a boat down as far as the mouth of Comb wash. Q What I was wondering was, whether those men stopped at Bluff or not. A Well, I couldn't say, sir. Q When you went up to Dandy crossing in this large launch, as I understand you, it was the latter part of August, 1910? |
