Show 4498 Harshberger- D 2518 A The same way I did the machinery. MR. BALCKMAR: That is all, Mr. Harshbarger. CROSS EXAMINATION BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Just one or two questions, Mr. Harshberger. These Miners that you spoke of that went down the river were placer mining over a pretty long stretch down there, were they not? A Yes. Q The group that you came upon there when you first went in were located right there in that immediate vicinity, were they not? A Yes, they were stretched over the river about thirty miles; they had all the claims located for about thirty miles. Q Was that true when you first went in? A Yes, 1892. Q And then in later years the miners go in there largely in the winter, and placer mine practically down to the confluence, don't they, with the Colorado? A About twenty miles of the junction on of the river. Q That is, from, say, Chinle creek down to twenty miles from the mouth of the San Juan? A No, about twenty miles of the mouth -- above the mouth. Q Above the mouth? A Yes. |
