Show 4371 Loper- D 2391 Q Did I understand you to say it was less difficult in this power boat to go up the river than to come down? A If you run on to a sandbar going up -- Q Just answer my question. A I just want to know if I understood you rightly. It is easier to get off a bar. Q If it is easier to get off a bar, that must mean it is easier to go up. A When you are going up the river you don't hit it so hard, nothing to keep pushing you on the bar; the water is working against you if you are going down, and hit a bar, the velocity of the water and the weight of the boat, and it keeps pushing you on. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q When you arrived at Greenriver, what did you do then? A Went back down on the river. Q Back down to -- A I mean down to my place, Red canyon. Q How did you accomplish that trip? A I went with a freight team to Hanksville, and there I met the man that was running Hite at that time, Frank Lawler, he had my team out there; so I went down with him to Hite. Q Did you keep your team at Hite? A No, my team was left at Hite while I was out on this trip. |
