I have several times noted in my diary. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You brushed up on your recollection on before taking the witness stand here, didn't you, Mr. Thomas? A I looked over my diary. Q Can't you tell up, -- if you can't, just say you can't tell us -- if you can, please tell us your best recollection of the number of times that you saw any boatman in the water in order to get a boat off a bar or other obstruction during that trip from Hall's Crossing to Lees Ferry. A I would say the boatmen were in the water twenty times. Q Twenty times? A Yes. Q You give that answer without attempting to recall specific instances? A I couldn't begin to count specific instances. Q You recall one specific instance that you just mentioned, the first day out? A Yes, I recall that, the first time we got stuck made an impression. Q What other specific instances do you recall? |
