A Yes sir; we had twenty thousand feet of moving picture film; lost five thousand feet in twenty miles of Cataract canyon. You want me to go on down? BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Yes. A We continued on down some twenty miles, and one day at noon he was water logged, good while getting his boat out of the current; when he did, his boat was absolutely full of water, so we took all of his stuff out and spread it on the bank to dry, and that was at noon; and after noon we took a walk down the river, and between a quarter and a half a mile below where we was camped there was a jog in the river, and right there is where the big drop starts; that is where the real water was. The next morning when we loaded up and started out, my boat was down maybe fifty yards below his; I set the camera at the edge of the water, a long rapid; he started through; I caught his picture as he came through. There was a little point down here I could see he was trying to pull out of the current when he passed the camera; when he passed this point I became anxious about him; I saw him try to pull out, and he couldn't; and of course the bank |
