MR. BLACKMAR: This is another book, 1924. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Then it has not been offered in evidence. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q In the book entitled, Down the Grand Canyon, by Lewis R. Freeman, Dodd, Meads Company, 1914, I ask you if you recognize that photograph? A Yes. Q Just tell me what that photograph is. A That is a photograph of the other boat, the other tandem from which I was riding, shortly after passing the Crossing of Fathers. This boat, which was traveling ahead of ours, ran aground. Our boat passed them, and I think we gibed them a little as we went by, -- jollied them, -- and we went on, presuming they would get off within a reasonable time -- didn't take more than five minutes to get off of these bars usually. In this case we went on to Warm creek, which was our objective for camping that night; we made camp -- reached there about four- thirty, and that boat came in about six o'clock. |
