A Well, there was row boats over at the Johnson ranch; I believe we built one; as I remember it, there was no row boat at that time; there was a ferry boat across the river. Q Did you go up stream in this boat, this launch? A Yes sir. Q Who operated the launch? A I operated the launch. Q Do you recall about the time of the year it was when you went up stream? A It was along in midsummer. Q Before or after the flood water? A It was just after, sir. Q How far up stream did you go in that boat? A Well, we made a lot of short trips to try it out, first, perhaps a distance of three or four miles, and there was one trip made with the boat and a row boat to a point that is |
