A I don't believe as went over the line over six or eight times; the line crossed at warm creek; perhaps eight times past the line. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Mr. Marrs, had you had any experience on rivers before you had this trip? A Yes sir. I had three years steam- boating experience in Idaho on the Coeur d' Alene lake, also on the St. Joe and St. Mary's river in the same state. Q In what capacity were you employed? A I started as machinist's helper. After a year I was promoted to master mechanic and relief engineer running these boats. Q So you had operated boats on rivers price to this time? A I have had stern wheel boats and propeller boats on a river. Q In the work you did on the Colorado river, what stage of the water did you find best for the operation of the boat? A Usually when a flood run by, the flood would take out the majority of the bars, the troublesome bars; we would find the best going after the flood run by, the next few days after |
