Show 4408 Loper- C 2428 " Q What hat had been the nature of this considerable experience that you have boating on the San Juan in 1894 and 1895, unless you have already covered it?" BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q If you have already covered it, I don't want you to go over it again. If you had some other experience boating that enabled you to handle boats on the Colorado than that you have already described, I wish you would say what it was. A I don't know as I just exactly understand what you mean by " the nature", but I boated in rapids, and I boated in still places, and I boated over rocks and I boated over sand. Q During those years you did a good deal of that up and down the San Juan river, did you? A Yes sir. Q Now, when you reached the dredge in the Colorado, these two men, Monette and Russell, went on alone down the Colorado? A Yes sir. Q Later you followed them down with some supplies, did you? A Yes sir. Q And then you came from Lees Ferry back up to Red Canyon, or to Hite, first? A To Hite; that was the ultimate destination, Hite. |
