Show 4368 Loper- D 2388 while I was there, but we ran the casing down one hundred and forty feet in the river bed and didn't strike bed rock. There was a flood or two while I was there. Q Did you remain there until the outfit came out? A Yes sir. Q Were you on the trip up stream when they brought out the whole outfit? A Yes sir. Q Tell me about your recollection of that trip, please. A The drilling outfit consisted of what we called a catamaran; that consisted of two barges six feet wide, twenty feet long; they was bound together with a six foot space between them something like that. The drill worked in that space. THE SPECIAL MASTER: We have had all this described. Do you need to go over it again? A We took these two barges comprising the catamaran, separated them, put one of the barges ahead of the Marguerite; there was two small motor boats sixteen feet long that took the other barge. We took the Betsy Ann, or this big barge, and put the boiler in it, along with the drilling equipment, and a paddle wheel rigged on; that was three outfits; we came up the river. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Which part of this outfit were you on? |
