Show 4482 Harshberger- D 2502 Q Other than your party? A Yes. Q About how many? A When we first got there, there was possibly twenty- five. I might explain, if you want, that there was a company prospecting the river the summer before it was open for location. It was considered on the Indian reservation, especially on the south side of the river, until it was opened by proclamation, the 10th day of December, 1892. Q How long did you stay down there in the San Juan country? A At that time about two months. Q Did your party have supplies -- did you carry in supplies for two months? A Yes; they sent the teams back and brought us in other supplies. Q From what point? A Winslow. Q Do you know how supplies were taken into these other placer miners who were in there? A They came down the river from Bluff by pack horses. Q Did the pack horses use the same trail that you had used? A No; they came down over another trail down the river, up on the bench and down. |
