Show 4446 Marrs- D 2466 A We left here on the 3rd of October; that year I built a new stern wheel, new bow; perhaps three weeks before we started, which would be about the 1st of November. We operated November, December, most of January; I believe the 22nd or 28th of January we arrived back here. Q The 2nd year how far up stream did you take these boats? A That was the year the Edison Company did the Diamond drill work at the dam site; that was about five miles above Lees Ferry; our entire work consisted of hauling supplies and equipment up to this dam site, except one time when Mr. Dennis and a party came out on an inspection trip we went up perhaps five miles more than that, eight or ten miles up, perhaps. Q What portion of the river over which you operated did you find the best water? A We had the less trouble from lees Ferry up, perhaps eight or ten miles, may be as far as Warm creek. After we leave Warm creek the canyon wall disappear; it flattens out into more of a valley; the river is wider and shallower. Q How far up does that continue? A I don't know; I only went as far as bridge canyon, still some, not much canyon wall there. Q From bridge canyon down to eight or ten miles above |
