Show 4434 Marrs- D 2454 A This first observation crew, we only went nine miles in two days. They became disgusted, and turned back, came back to Less Ferry. We started in them with a survey party, running a line of levels, hauling supplies to these camps; they moved from day to day up the river, a few miles each day. Q To identify them, do you know the names of these camps, the person in charge of them? A It was Mr. Fowler, was the name of the camp we were hauling supplies to; we hauled supples to him and stay there a day or two, and go up the river, move him up two or three miles to another place. Maybe once a week we would come back down, bring the reports out, take up some more eats and mail to him. Q After you got back on that first trip did you move out right away again? A I couldn't say. Might have been a day or two. We waited until the truck went to Flagstaff and brought more supplies out; I couldn't say just the time we were there. ( Thereupon, at 1: 00 P. M., a recess was taken until 2: 15 P. M.) |
