A We started overland with the boat from Flagstaff to Lees Ferry; we were about a week going over on the truck; we met several rain storms and sand washes. About a week afterwards, during the first of August, the boat was launched. Q What crew, passengers if any, and other material did you have aboard this boat? A The first trip out with the boat we started out from Lees Ferry with a crew of two besides myself and some passengers and then the supplies to make a trip up the river. Q How many number of the crew? A Just two besides myself, two boatmen. Q Who were they? A One was named Johnson, the other named Knight. Q How many passengers did you have? A I don't remember; must have been seven or eight of the Edison party, observation crew; Mr. Dennis -- I don't remember who they were. Q The passengers were all employees of the Edison Company?
