A Yes, I was paid so much a day for my work. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You spoke of Frank Bennett working on the Olympia bar. When was he engaged in that work? A Frank Bennett was on the Olympia bar in 1910 and 1911 and 1912, I think. I know he was in 1911, because Seaboldt and I went down in 1911 and camped with Frank Bennett; I know he was there then. And he was there in 1912 when we came back; he was putting in a water wheel. Q Now, as I understood your testimony, Mr. Loper, you said Bennett did most of the running up and down the river between 1908 and 1914. Was that in substance as you testified? Just what did you mean by that? A Sometimes he had a horse down there, he would ride up and back. He had a boat. Sometimes him and his nephew would go up in the boat and come back in the boat. Q he would carry supplies or things that were required for himself or for others working on the river at different points in his boats? A No sir. He might carried a few for himself, |
