Show 4382 Loper- D 2402 BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What was the stage of the water? A The stage of the water was about, I expect, twelve or fourteen thousand feet. Q Was it high, low or medium? A It was not what you would call extremely low water; we had more water than we would naturally expect at that time of year. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How many times between North wash and Lees Ferry was it necessary to get overboard to bring the boat over? MR. FARNSWORHT: He has not said it was necessary. yet; he probably will. MR. BLACKMAR: He just described one time. MR. FARNSWORTH: I didn't hear him say once. A I don't remember but once below Halls Crossing. But we ran on to the rocks, just touched the rocks, in Smith Fork rapid, and I know we drug the motor along on the gravel for quite a ways just above Lake canyon; Lake canyon we was quite anxious, we were touching bottom with the oars all the time through there; the water was quite rough, but we got through there fairly well. After we turned the next turn, what used to be known as Shock rapid, I took the same channel I had taken times before, which proved to be the wrong one, this times. |
