Show 4366 Loper- D 2386 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q When you made the trip from Wimmer's ranch to the dredge outfit, were there other boats with you, or was this the only boat? A That was the only boat, until we got down near the break, I believe, between Labyrinth and Stillwater, where we picked up a barge called the Betsy Ann, that was left down there. Mr. Wimmer picked this barge up at that place, and lashed the two together, and went on down. Q How many persons accompanied you on this trip? A Kirk Gregory, Mr. Wimmer, and myself. Q Did you have any supplies or freight in the boat of any kind? A I don't remember; I wouldn't say about that; I don't remember what they had on board. Q Who operated the boat? A Mr. Wimmer was the captain. Q Do you recall the stage of the water? A The water was low. Q Did you have any difficulty in making that trip? A I remember an incident or two where we truck sandbars, but nothing serious; the boats were pretty light. Q After you met the Betsy Ann, did you continue on down the river with the Marguerite and the Betsy Ann, both? A Yes sir. |
