Anyway, I finally got the raft within about six feet of the bank, and Mr. Russell gave a mighty jump and landed all right, but in doing that he kicked that raft, started it back out in the river again. I had to pile off and get to shore the best I could. We got up to the Spanish Bottoms that night about dark. We had no bed, and all the food we had was a sack of biscuits; it didn't rain, it poured all night. The next morning we started to climb out. I didn't know it at the time, but Mr. Russell was becoming mentally deranged. It was quite a problem to get out of there. When go this way, I will go this way." A Three miles below the junction of the two rivers. Q There is a trail down from which side of the river? A Is that trail going up from Spanish Bottoms over the mesa to Hanksville?
