Show 4337 Loper- D 2357 drug my cars, seemed to be smooth. Q You were still using that steel boat? A Yes sir. Q When you got to Lees Ferry, did you get some more supplies down there? A I got enough supplies to take me back to Hite. Q How did you make the trip from Lees Ferry back to Hite? A That was an awful trip; I was wet to the waist for about twenty- four days in February; started in January, and one thing that caused that trip, probably, to be so hard, was the mental condition along with the other, because thins were looking pretty blue. Q Your feet were kind of blue, weren't they? A There was times in that trip I didn't know I had any feet under me. Q In towing this boat or taking this boat up stream, whether you were rowing or towing, did you walk along the bank, or just how did you do that? A I had a line one hundred and twenty feet long so it was attached to the bow and then around to the stern, of course. I would get up there to where I would quarter my boat like that and walk up the river, and the action of the water on this side of the boat will keep it out in the river to a certain extent. While you can walk along there on those turns in Glen canyon, there is always places there you have got to get out and wade in order to get your boat around |
