Show 4335 Loper- D 2355 Grand Canyon, him and Monette, so when I got to Lees Ferry I was left stranded. Q Before we get to that, how did you get from the Stanton dredge back to Hite? A I pulled my boat up the river? Q Do you recall what month that was? A That was in November; I can give you the exact date if you look at the diary. Q Do you recall how long it took you to cover that distance between Hite and the Stanton dredge? A It took me -- must have taken me five days, because I didn't know how to rope a boat then like I got to learn afterwards; I couldn't make the time. Q Could you tell me about what per cent of the time you towed your boat? A I will say ninety percent. Q Where had Mr. Monette and Mr. Russell left the river? A Mr. Monette and Mr. Russell left at the old dredge; when I started up the river, they started down, and were supposed to wait for me at Lees Ferry. Q Then, when you disposed of your business at Hite and started down the river, did you go direct to Lees Ferry, or did you work on the way? A I want direct. Q What month was that? A That was the beginning of the next year, the first day. |
